My Stories

I’ve always meant to get a few of my stories down on paper (well, virtual website paper’s just as good).   I’ll start with a story about me and Charlie (or should I say Charlie and I!!).

Dudley and Charlie go to Edale Country Day
Charlie and I go to a fair few shows and country days together to do pony rides for the children visiting the show - today we were going to the Edale Country Day.   Charlie had to have a bath in the morning because he was dirty as usual - and I just had a thoroughly good groom.   When Charlie was dry, we had our tail and leg bandages put on (to protect us when travelling) and we were loaded into the horse box (it’s a bit too far for our little legs to walk all the way to Edale!).   The journey was fine and the weather, at that point was lovely and sunny.   Charlie packed his sunglasses and I made sure we had a big open tent for shade.

When we arrived, we set our tent up at the Edale Country Day and children came to meet us.   Some children just patted us and some children came for a pony ride.   Charlie and I had just finished our first riding session and were ready for a break, when all of a sudden, it started raining.   We hadn’t noticed the huge grey clouds that had formed overhead in the sky!!   We couldn’t believe it, Charlie had been looking forwards to putting on his sunglasses and was thinking about a nice bucket of ice cold water.   I had been thinking that maybe an ice cream was in order (though I don’t think I would have been allowed one!).   The wind picked up and our open tent, brought to shelter us from the hot sun, started to blow around!!   Charlie and I thought it might blow away, but one of our helpers from Ladybooth pinned it down so it didn't.   Charlie and I got a bit wet in our break, and a bit wet for the rest of our pony rides.   However, we did have a lovely day and met lots of new friends who have come to visit us at Ladybooth since.   When we got home, we were dried off and were given some tasty hay to eat.   All in all we had a lovely, if not a little wet, day!!   Though Charlie never did get to wear his sunglasses!!
